Man hit by car in Glasgow's west end rushed to hospital as driver reported

A man has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a car in the west end.

Emergency services including police and paramedics scrambled to Great Western Road following reports of a crash involving a vehicle and pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a 36-year-old man, was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment following the crash which took place just before 11pm on Sunday night, June 30.

His condition remains unknown. Great Western Road was closed in both directions between Napiershall Street to St George's Road following the incident and reopened at around 12am this morning.

The 37-year-old male driver will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with a road traffic offence.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "We received a report of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian on Great Western Road, Glasgow, around 10.40pm on Sunday, 30 June, 2024.

"Emergency services attended and the pedestrian, a 36-year-old man, was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

"The driver, a 37-year-old man, will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with a road traffic offence."
