Manchester’s Arndale Centre has been evacuated and one man has been arrested.

Police confirmed that the arrest was not linked to last night’s terrorist attack in the city, which killed 22 people and injured a further 59.

Witnesses report shoppers fleeing in panic after rumours of a bomb threat.

Unconfirmed reports say that a suspicious package was found in the food court.

Collette Nicholls, who works at the Superdrug store in the shopping centre, told the Manchester Evening News she saw people: ‘running and screaming.’

The Arndale Centre is a busy shopping centre in the middle of the city.

Last night a terrorist detonated a bomb at an Ariane Grande concert at Manchester Arena.
