A difference of narrative coming out of Italy at the moment as Marko Arnautovic talks about next season at Inter Milan and the Gazetta della Sport insists his club are still trying to find a club that will take him this summer, an ongoing challenge about a suitor who can both afford him and be attractive to the player.

Arnautovic has apparently already rejected interest from Turkey or Saudi Arabia, no matter how lucrative that might be, after a bad personal experience, if not for his bank balance, in China. And he is quoted in the Italian press as saying: "I have won almost everything, I have another year with Inter and I still have a lot to do."

But Genoa's Iceland international Albert Gudmundsson has apparently been lined up as his replacement in the summer window and getting Arnie out is a key part of their transfer strategy ahead of the new campaign.

Krone, the Austrian paper who are taking a keen interest while Arnautovic gets ready for Euro 2024, report: "The situation is therefore causing headaches for those responsible in Milan. Although the 35-year-old and his influence on a good chemistry in the team are highly valued, soccer is a tough business. The salary, which is likely to amount to around 3.7 million euros, is to be saved.

"Arnautovic has not been able to achieve the goal rate that Inter had hoped for, partly due to injuries. That is why the soon-to-be 27-year-old Icelander is now to be brought in."

Arnautovic has also apparently turned his nose up at Fiorentina - let's not even get back into a debate about whether he might be tempted about a swansong at Stoke - and Inter are apparently hoping a strong summer in the Euros will earn him attention from clubs in Europe's top leagues.

"Milan are certain that this is the only way to make a move palatable for the striker. The Nerazzurri have suddenly become big Austria fans," add Krone.
