Drivers faced long delays on the M62 after a multi-vehicle collision.

It happened on the westbound stretch of the motorway between junction 27, for Birstall, and junction 26, near Bradford.

Shortly before 5.30pm, National Highways said all traffic was being held.

Traffic has now been released - but at around 5.45pm, National Highways said long delays remained.

A National Highways spokesperson said at the time: "Please allow time for the delays to ease.

"There's approximately six miles of congestion on the M62 westbound.

"The M621 westbound is also heavily congested.

"There are delays of up to one hour."
