Newcastle United look at Iceland ace who bested England as Olise and Summerville move considered

Newcastle United are one of a trio of Premier League clubs interested in Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson, according to growing speculation both in this country and in Europe.

The Iceland international has been the subject of speculation since scoring the winner at Wembley, sending a disappointed England into EURO 2024 on the back of a 1-0 defeat on home turf - alerting Newcastle scouts to his presence in the process, if reports are to be believed.

The 25-year-old winger has also been linked with West Ham and Leicester off the back of his performance on the international stage, being heavily rumoured with a return to England having spent the last two seasons with Belgian side OH Leuven after graduating from the Fulham academy.

“He has always dreamed of playing in the Premier League,” said a source close to the player. “I think he showed at Wembley that he’s capable of playing at the highest level in England.”

Newcastle are understood to be interested in Crystal palace winger Michael Olise and Leeds United wide man Crysencio Summerville, with the Icelandic winger yet another option for the Magpies to explore in this summer's transfer market.
