Arnold Schwarzenegger is in talks for to star in a remake of eighties low budget classic The Toxic Avenger.
The Terminator actor is said to be in negotiations to star in director-and-writer Steve Pink's (Hot Tub Time Machine) reboot of the 1984 cult sci-fi movie. The film tells the tale of high school janitor Melvin Ferd who is dumped in toxic waste, leaving him with one major side effect- he can transform into a mutant monster with superhuman strength.
Schwarzenegger is reportedly in talks to play 'The Exterminator', an ex-black ops agent who trains Ferd to control his powers and use them for good. John Travolta meanwhile has previously been linked to the title role.
In a statement from the International Film Trust it was confirmed that the movie, "loosely based" on the original will be introduced to buyers at Cannes 2013, with principal photography penciled in for this autumn.

The original 80's film was virtually ignored by critics and moviegoers when it was first released but thanks to midnight movie showings at New York's famed Bleecker Street Cinemas in late 1985 it went on to become a cult classic.
It's not the first time the film has been re imagined, already generating three film sequels, a stage musical production, and a children's TV cartoon.
The reboot marks another step in the road for Arnie's movie comeback after a hiatus in during his years as Governor of California.
''Moviegoers around the world were thrilled when Arnold Schwarzenegger returned to acting so effortlessly filling the gap that he left behind. He is the ultimate action hero with a natural comedic versatility and will be pitch perfect in 'The Toxic Avenger'" said IFT President Ariel Veneziano.
