Beyonce Named Highest-Paid Black Artist Of All Time After Mrs. Carter Show Tour Grosses £126 Million

Beyonce has yet another accolade to add under her diamond belt as the singer has just been named the highest-paid black artist of all time thanks to her recent 'Mrs. Carter Show' world tour which is said to have grossed a whopping £126 million.

The 32-year-old has taken the honour from the likes of Michael Jackson, Prince and Janet Jackson who were previously among the highest-earning black musicians, mostly in part due to the storming success of her latest mammoth world tour.

The 'Mrs. Carter Show' jaunt spanned almost an entire year and ran for an incredible – and exhaustive – 132 shows across North and South America, Australia and Europe which proved to be her most lucrative leg.

According to Billboard magazine, the jaunt earned £126 million ($212 million) in total and sold 1.8 million tickets. The most recent European leg which ran for 25 dates between February and March this year, is said to have grossed £26 million ($41.1 million).

The boost in sales for the final European leg was most likely due to the sudden release of Beyonce's self-titled fifth studio album which dropped by surprise in December.

Fans were undoubtedly keen to see the 'Drunk In Love' singer perform the new songs live for the first time, but the majority bulk of the tour featured songs from her previous back catalogue.

Beyonce's high-earning status is set to soar even higher this summer following the announcement that she'll be embarking on a joint tour with her husband Jay Z across North America.

The jaunt will kick off on June 25 in Miami and will play 15 other dates across the US.
