EastEnders Addresses Flood Crisis By Adding Last Minute Scene

EastEnders added a last minute flood scene to Friday's episode.

The long-running serial drama has prided itself on reflecting the social issues and concerns of the nation and used its platform to address the worrying water troubles.

Newcomers Danny Dyer and Kellie Bright were seen discussing the weather conditions and how it has impacted the country.

Viewers saw Dyer's character Mick Carter carrying a copy of the Walford Gazette where he suggests that he "might need to build an ark" as the "Thames is breaking our banks all over the gaff."

His worried wife Linda, played by Bright, replies that the floods would not hit Albert Square, but Mick says: "Who knows? Some people have lost everything, bless 'em."

This January has been the wettest on record since 1766 and it is predicted that this winter could be the wettest ever.

This is not the first time EastEnders have added last minute scenes to reflect hot talking topics that have swept the nation.

In December, characters Denise Foxx and Carol Jackson paid tribute to Nelson Mandela when the political leader passed away at the age of 95.
