Park with pygmy goats, alpacas and adventure centre getting rave reviews on Tripadvisor

Just a short drive away from Lancashire, an award-winning park with a free zoo and a plethora of activities awaits.

Walton Hall and Gardens was once the residence of Lord and Lady Daresbury. Now, it's a sprawling park featuring adventure golf, a children's zoo, café, and high ropes adventure centre and consistently receives great reviews on Tripadvisor.

The property, located in Warrington, was purchased by the council during World War II in 1941, and initially served as a base for officers and troops. The gardens were opened to the public in 1945 and have since become one of the region's most popular attractions, drawing approximately 330,000 visitors annually.

In addition to vast green spaces, the free children's zoo houses a diverse range of animals. Established in the early 1960s, the zoo has been home to numerous animals over the years, including three alpacas, rescue donkeys, rabbits, potbellied pigs, Herdwick sheep, African pygmy goats, guinea pigs, and a variety of birds, such as peacocks.

Families can also observe red squirrels playing in purpose-built runs and cages, part of a nationwide breeding programme. After a picnic on the grounds, families can enjoy a woodland walk or have fun in the playground, reports the ECHO.

Other outdoor activities include adventure golf, bowls, and a high ropes Jungle Parc, which offers more than 60 different activities across six levels of difficulty. A two-hour session at Jungle Parc costs £15.

Walton Hall and Gardens has once again been recognised with a Travellers' Choice award from Tripadvisor, securing its place as a top destination. This accolade is reserved for the elite 10% of listings on Tripadvisor worldwide, reflecting consistent excellent reviews.

Cllr Russ Bowden, leader of Warrington Borough Council, expressed his pleasure: "I'm delighted to hear that Walton Hall and Gardens continues to be a favourite tourism destination in Warrington. The quality and quantity of reviews the estate receives on Tripadvisor is a testament to the hard work of the estate team to ensure that Walton continues to be the jewel in Warrington's crown and remains a popular visitor destination for many years to come."
