Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has ruled out a potential return to Barcelona in the future.

The Catalan remained tight-lipped about his plans following City's 2-1 loss to Manchester United in the FA Cup final. While he has one more season left on his current contract, which he intends to fulfil, the possibility of an extension remains uncertain.

City have experienced unprecedented success under Guardiola, clinching the treble last season and becoming the first team to secure four consecutive English top-flight titles. The club has won six Premier League titles with the ex-Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager at the helm.

Guardiola built one of the greatest club sides of all time during his tenure as Barcelona manager. Between 2009 and 2012, the Catalan giants won two Champions League titles, three La Liga championships, two Copa del Reys, three Spanish Super Cups, two European Super Cups and two World Club Cups.

But any speculation over a potential return to the Nou Camp one day has been emphatically answered by the 53-year-old. "Yes, door closed,” he said in a press conference at the Legends Trophy golf tournament.

City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said in his annual statement last week that he will continue to work with Guardiola over a new contract, but that the manager remains 'fully committed' to the Premier League champions.

"Pep has always been fully committed to this club, fully committed to every contract that he has signed with us," he said. "This decision on his future is always a decision that we will take together, and I have no doubt that we will find, as always, we have done, the right solution that works for Pep and works for us.

"It’s hard to put into words what Pep has given this organisation, this club. You can look at just records, for history’s sake and there I think he’s racked up every record, almost, in the book."
