All the fun of the fair this past weekend as visitors descended on Frogham Fair, raising thousands for charity in the process.

The fair, on Saturday June 29, saw a mix of events from terrier races, sheep dog and duck demonstrations, as well as quintessential fair competitions such as egg and spoon and three-legged races.

The Fair was described on social media as a “fantastic community effort”, taking a full 12 months to plan by the organising committee and many days spent in the sun setting up and packing away fencing, bunting, and a tea tent.

Judith Cochand volunteered at the event and called the dog shows.

She said: “The Ukulele band played throughout, the beer flowed, the hot dogs and burgers were devoured, and they must have sold out of ice cream judging by the queue.

“There was the important dog show with categories such as waggiest tale, scruffiest mutt and the senior dog parade.”

As well as the various canine demonstrations, visitors cheered on competitors in a wheelbarrow race up Blissford Hill, when they weren’t shopping for bargains at the book stall.

The event is estimated to match last year’s fundraising total of over £9,500, which will go towards the village hall and local charities and good causes such as Salisbury Hospice, Riding for the Disabled, and Motels Court Wildlife rescue.
