Police stake out speed camera to catch speeding biker who repeatedly 'gave the finger'

A motorbike rider who repeatedly set off a speed trap, swearing at it each time, was caught out after police staked it out in an unmarked car.

The 44-year-old broke the 30mph speed limit six times - on each sticking up his middle finger to the camera.

Police eventually decided to catch him in the act the next time he passed the camera in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, and lay in wait in an unmarked car on 26 April.

He arrived 15 minutes into the stake-out by officers from Kent Police’s Roads Policing Unit on Pembury Road.

They found the rider, who has not been named, was uninsured and driving without a license.

He was reported for both offences and will also be summoned to court for speeding at a later date.

Police released an image of the man giving the camera the finger as part of a warning to other motorists.

Chief Inspector Craig West, head of roads policing at Kent Police, said: "Speed limits and cameras are in place to protect the public and should not be treated as a game.

"Motorists who speed risk receiving a fine and points on their licence, and in certain cases being brought before the courts.

"More importantly they risk causing a collision that could result in a death or serious injury.

"Please remember to drive responsibly at all times to protect yourself and other road-users."
