Premier League trio ready to blow apart Leeds United transfer plans and rub salt in wounds of Wembley failure

Leeds United's hopes of sealing a return for Joe Rodon have taken a significant hit, with three Premier League sides reportedly keen on the Wales international.

According to our colleagues at football.london, Ipswich Town, Leicester City and Southampton are all monitoring the defender, who made 50 appearances for the Whites last season as they progressed to the Championship play-off final at Wembley.

Leeds are still very keen on the 26-year-old, who's believed to have enjoyed his time in west Yorkshire. Indeed, had they secured promotion to the Premier League, Daniel Farke's side would likely have been favourites to get a deal over the line.

However, their failure at Wembley has clearly weakened their position in light of so much interest, and three of the sides that managed to pip Leeds to promotion last term are now seemingly eyeing up the chance to rub further salt in the wounds.

To lose Rodon to Southampton would clearly be particularly painful, but Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna is also believed to be a big fan of the centre-back, and might just see the Welshman as the ideal addition as he looks to build a squad capable of competing in the Premier League.

Leicester's recruitment team have similarly admired him, and could be in a strong position given two of Rodon's former bosses are currently among the names in the frame to take over from Enzo Maresca, who left to join Chelsea earlier in the summer.

Graham Potter and Steve Cooper have both been heavily linked, and should either of them take the reins, it may well strengthen the Foxes' stance.
