"It was my intent to come and visit you [at college], and because of my mistakes, I wasn't able to come," she tells Stella with tears in her eyes. "I feel bad. I'm so sorry and humiliated, and that I disappointed you."

"Like, what kind of example am I at 59?" she asks rhetorically as her voice wavers.

Stella assures her mother that she and her sisters were "glad that you're okay and no one was hurt." She suggests Shannon "take accountability for your actions" and learn from her mistakes.

In a conversation with cameras, Shannon shares more details about the events leading up to her arrest. After driving to her ex John Jansen's home, the two got into an argument and Shannon claims he called her a "drunken idiot" before urging her not to drive.

"I got in an accident seconds later, because I revved up the engine so he could know how mad I was, and I lost control of the car immediately," she claims.

Shannon adds, "Never broken a bone, I've never had a concussion, I've never been in an accident, I've never been arrested, never had a DUI, and I did all that in 10 seconds."

In September 2023, PEOPLE confirmed Shannon was arrested at 1:17 a.m. on Sept. 17 after fleeing the scene from a collision that caused property damage, according to the Newport Beach Police Department. The NBPD also said the Bravolebrity had been booked for two misdemeanors — one for a hit-and-run, the second for DUI alcohol — and released on a citation.

Shannon was found walking her dog by police after she allegedly left her car in the middle of the road, according to the initial report by TMZ.

In a statement to PEOPLE, Shannon's lawyer, Michael L. Fell, said at the time: "I spent quite a bit of time with Shannon yesterday. She is extremely apologetic and remorseful. We will be awaiting the official information on this case as it becomes available, and Shannon is prepared to accept full responsibility for her actions."
