Singer Rita Ora is as famous for her quirky style as she is for her voice. The “Body On Me” crooner stepped out in New York on Sunday, July 19 in a denim jumpsuit and pigtail braids.

However, these weren’t your run-of-the-mill pigtails favored by third graders.

By weaving color-pop ribbons into each braid, 25-year-old Rita Ora made the simple style both edgy and playfully summery. While it’s uncertain if the hairstyle is for a photoshoot, one thing is clear — it’s a great look for anyone who’s looking to spice up their braids, but lacks the time or energy to create a Daenerys Targaryen-style updo.

To recreate the look yourself, first tie your hair into two ponytails on either side of your head. Next, get yourself a few long, colorful ribbons that are about twice as long as your braid. Wrap them around each ponytail and tie them together in a bow, over your elastic. Then, separate your ponytail into three sections, making sure to pull a ribbon into each section (or place all the ribbons into one of the three sections, depending on your outcome preference). Once you’ve sectioned the hair, begin braiding as you normally would, and secure with another elastic at the bottom of each braid. Either let the ribbons hang loose through the elastic or tie one around the hair tie into a bow, as Ora did here.

Easy, right? Give it a try the next time you’re looking to add some color to your look.
