A famous face has stopped by a Mumbles restaurant to enjoy a pasta lunch - but unlike his famous TV character, he didn't order the gnocchi. Rob Brydon visited Verdi's on Thursday afternoon whilst in the area to give a talk.

The actor and comedian, who plays Uncle Bryn in Gavin & Stacey, and performed his 'night of songs and laughter' show at Swansea Arena last month, "created a buzz" among customers as he stopped by to have a meal whilst taking in some of the stunning views in the area.

Lucy Hole, who owns Verdi's, together with her brother Tom, described the 58-year-old as a "lovely gentlemen", who was "really open" with fellow customers and staff members, posing for photos before he left. For the latest Swansea news, sign up to our newsletter here.

Miss Hole said: "He came in, was completely normal, greeted all of the staff, sat on his own and ordered a bowl of pasta arrabbiata, one of our specials. We left him alone for that part and let him enjoy the view, he was sat on a lovely table admiring the view, and when he was leaving he was really, really kind and so open with staff and customers and he said he enjoyed his food and the lovely atmosphere. He actually asked himself if we would like to take a picture, because he must have known they were going to ask for one!

"It was really nice, and all the customers were super happy and there was a nice buzz there when he was there. What a lovely gentleman. He was in the area having a talk with people. "

Verdi's, The Lighthouse and The Secret, which are all owned by the Hole family, have been visited by famous faces regularly in the past. In July last year, we reported how TV star and comedian Alan Carr has been spotted enjoying a breakfast at The Secret. Read more about that by clicking here.

Miss Hole said: "Our venues are hubs and they are really tourist related, and must just be in the know and on the radar, so we're doing something right! The views speak for themselves, and when you come and visit Mumbles and Swansea you want to go and look out, especially on a beautiful day like yesterday, you want to see the sea, and we're really fortunate that our venues have that to offer.

"They're also really casual and you don't have to think too much about going there, so Rob has just popped in and had food for one and it was the norm in Verdi's. I think we're just fortunate to welcome famous faces and we respect their privacy and the fact they are a human being as well. We're really lucky."
