Steve Clarke has confirmed his 28-man provisional Scotland squad ahead of Euro 2024 in Germany.

The Tartan Army are gearing up for an absolutely massive summer, with Scotland set to kick off the tournament in Munich on June 14 against the hosts before facing Switzerland and Hungary in Group A.

Now, the manager has announced his provisional squad that will travel to Germany next month, due to be cut down to 26, but after recent speculation there is no place for Aberdeen star Connor Barron.

The Dons youngster has only featured at Under-21 level, and had been tipped to be a surprise call-up for the squad after a strong Pittodrie campaign.

Meanwhile there's plenty of links to the Reds throughout the squad, with multiple former Dons stars named in the 28-man squad.

Nottingham Forest defender Scott McKenna, who has spent the campaign on loan at Copenhagen, is involved, as is Bournemouth winger Ryan Christie after a strong Premier League season.

With Nathan Patterson and Aaron Hickey ruled out through injury, Bristol City defender Ross McCrorie makes the cut after his move from the Granite City to the Championship last summer.

Angus Gunn, son of Aberdeen legend Bryan Gunn, makes the cut among the goalkeepers with the Norwich City stopper having enjoyed an impressive rise in the national team.

His teammate Kenny McLean, who scored the stunning late winner in Oslo during the qualifiers, will join the array of former Dons in Germany.

Aberdeen-born Rangers defender John Souttar is included, and his Gers teammate and ex-Don Ryan Jack is involved.

Former Dons academy defender Ryan Porteous will also be on the plane after a season with Watford following his Hibs exit.

Finally, former Dons striker Lawrence Shankland, fresh off a high-scoring Hearts campaign, is added to the side, with the Jambos forward expected to be hitting similar highs in dark blue next month.

For one ex-Reds midfielder, they will be sitting out on the sidelines this summer, as Lewis Ferguson misses out with a knee injury after what had been a superb season with Bologna.

The Hamilton-born midfielder broke Denis Law's Serie A goals tally and captained the side to Champions League football next season.
