Search for owners after ‘dangerous and violent’ dog attack in Abbey Wood

Police are searching for the owners of two dogs following a “dangerous” dog attack in Abbey Wood.

On Friday, May 17 at 7.40am, police were called to Blithdale Road where two dogs were being attacked by another two dogs.

No arrests have been made but police enquiries are ongoing to identify the owners of all of the animals.

A nearby resident told described the attack as “violent” and claims to have seen two dogs “ravaging and ragdoll-ing” another two dogs.

They also reportedly heard the owner of one of the dogs “screaming in distress” and observed that two of the dogs seemed “out of control”, adding that they “should never have been off the leash in a residential street”.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “We can confirm we have received a third party report of a dangerous dog incident in Abbey Wood.

“The incident was alleged to have happened on Blithdale Road at about 07:40hrs on Friday, 17 May, when two dogs were attacked by another two dogs.

“Enquiries are underway to identify and speak with the owners of all of the animals.

“No arrests have been made.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
