Several Dead After Landslide Buries Homes in Colombia

At least nine people were killed, 26 were injured, and two remained missing after a landslide swept through homes in the Colombian city of Pereira on February 8, regional officials said.

The landslide happened close to the banks of the Otún River in the Esneda neighborhood of Pereira and followed heavy rain, officials said.

The mayor of Pereira, Carlos Maya, said at least two of those killed were children, according to the Pereira-based news website, Noticias UNOA, that shot this footage.

The footage from Noticias UNOA show damaged buildings, rescue operations, and relief efforts on Avenida del Río in Pereira.

President Iván Duque extended his condolences to the families of the victims and said the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD) had responded to the scene.
