A key retail spot on one of the busiest roads in the county is getting a new tenant. The Card Factory is due to open next to The Food Warehouse at the Gallagher Retail Park on the edge of Cheltenham.

An application has gone in to Cheltenham Borough Council for new signage on the property off Tewkesbury Road. It will get lots of passing traffic as the A4019 is a key route into and out of Cheltenham, linking the town with the M5.

Traffic is often caught in delays at the traffic lights on to the retail park, so not many people are going to miss the new store. The Wakefield-based company has applied for a number of new signs for the store, including on the Apex of the building seen from the main road.

Pictures taken at the site on Monday (June 24), near the Sainsbury's supermarket and petrol station, show preparations for The Card Factory opening are well advanced. As well as cards on the shelves, a number of boxes are also piled up with deliveries taking place.

There has been a series of stores at the site, going back to the HomeStore&More. By 2012, it was Whole Foods Market but it closed five years later. In 2019, it was The Wine Warehouse and in 2021 it was branded as Cheers off-licence.
