SPECTRE Receives Rave Reviews From The Critics

The first screening for the next James Bond adventure ‘SPECTRE’ was held in London last night, and it seems the critics absolutely loved it.

Sam Mendes’s second outing as a 007 director (his first being 2012′s ‘Skyfall’) has received hugely positive reviews already, with more likely to trickle through upon release.

One of the first reviews to go live yesterday evening was in The Guardian, whereby Peter Bradshaw gave it five stars and labelled the 24th instalment as a “terrifically exciting, spectacular, almost operatically delirious 007 adventure”.

Bradshaw also praised leading man Daniel Craig for his efforts in this, his fourth outing as James Bond, with a backhanded critique of sorts: “He is one of the best Bonds and an equal to Connery. That great big handsome-Shrek face with its sweetly bat ears has grown into the role.

Robbie Collin of the Telegraph was equally impressed, also giving the film full marks, saying it’s a “swaggering show of confidence,” and branded Sam Mendes’s efforts as ‘pure flamboyance’.

He concluded with:” Spectre pulls it off in the grand old Fleming style. It’s an act of pure cinematic necromancy.”

Empire concluded their 4-star review with: “Full marks to Mendes, Craig, Waltz, Fiennes and the location finder. But could we please get a hummable song next time?”

There’s also praise for one of its newcomers, who is worthy of note: “Dave Bautista’s Oddjob-like silent, smirking thug, Mr. Hinx, is a formidable opponent.”

Games Radar also loved the film, giving credit to the actor playing Q: “The real delight, though, is Ben Whishaw, whose donnish Q is given much more to do this time around and inflects his scenes with a deliciously offbeat energy.”

And the Independent thought it was “every bit the equal of its predecessor.”

So the initial reception towards ‘SPECTRE’ is that it’s rather great, so expect a hefty haul at the box office when it comes out next week.

‘SPECTRE’ is in UK cinemas on 26 October.
