Strictly winner Ellie Leach spent final rehearsals 'snotting all over herself'

Strictly Come Dancing champion Ellie Leach has recalled a rather mucousy final week on the show.

Following her and professional partner Vito Coppola's victory in the BBC ballroom - they beat finalists Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell, and Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin to the Glitterball trophy - the duo set up an Instagram livestream to reflect on their wonderful adventure together.

Asked by a fan if there were any particularly embarrassing moments shared between them, Leach and Coppola couldn't help but chuckle over the time they came down with colds during the business end of the competition.

The former Coronation Street actress replied: "In the final week we were quite ill, we both had colds, we were both bunged up.

"In the show dance there was lots of twists and turns and when I turned, I snotted all over me."

Apparently, her snottiness ended up distracting Leach from focussing on the task in hand, much to the frustration of Coppola, who could be seen smirking throughout this anecdote.

Meanwhile, the Strictly winners finally laid those romance rumours to bed earlier this week.

"Honestly, we've just been having the most amazing time dancing. We've built a really strong bond and a friendship that will last forever," Leach told This Morning presenter Josie Gibson.

Coppola chipped in with: "We had a beautiful bond. You see a person and you connect straight away - I'm very first impression person and when we met we had that feeling that we knew each other since we were young. You choose the people and I'm so, so lucky to have you in my life."

"We've been through so much together, we've spent every day together for the past three months, so we're really lucky to just have that bond that we've got, we'll be friends for life," reiterated his dance partner.
