Strictly Come Dancing star Layton Williams has shared a message to fans, addressing the "trolling" he's been on the receiving end of.

The West End star is part of the celebrity line-up of the current Strictly season, where he's partnered with pro dancer Nikita Kuzmin.

In a post shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), Williams shared a selfie showing him doing the victory sign and smiling.

"The messages of love are overwhelming but as is the low key trolling," he wrote.

"I'm just here to have fun like all the other contestants. I'm trying to handle this with a smile and determination to slay another day but reminder #BeKind," he continued.

Williams, seen in productions such as Everybody's Talking About Jamie and Billy Elliot, previously opened up about his hopes for his Strictly run.

He explained what kind of songs he would love to dance to on the show, calling on producers to pick some of the tracks he'd selected for a playlist.

"It is the gayest, most girl pop group playlist you've ever heard in your life. Just queen after queen after queen and icons — hopefully, they pick a couple of the songs I have chosen," told Digital Spy and other press ahead of his dancefloor debut.

"But also, I do trust they know what they're doing when it comes to the decisions. The producers, the team, they know what's going to entertain. So I'm ready to go along for the ride."

In his first two weeks on Strictly, Williams and Kuzmin danced a samba to 'Touch' by Little Mix and a quickstep to 'Puttin' on the Ritz' by Gregory Porter.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays and Sundays on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.

Tickets for Strictly's 2024 live arena tour are available now.
