TAUNTON's Holway Centre held a fun-filled prom for its year 11 leavers, with students all putting in "maximum effort to look their very best".

The event, held at Taunton Deane Partnership College's Holway Centre in Taunton on June 21, was a "very relaxed and informal" celebration of the small cohort of leaver's achievements.

Students arrived in a variety of modes of transport including an old London Taxi.

Parents, carers, teachers, teaching staff and teachers from their previous schools all turned out to watch as speeches were made and leaver's certificates handed out.

There was a light lunch with mocktails and ice cream to follow, and "everyone made maximum effort to look their very best and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day."

Deryk Kerr, a teacher at Holway Centre, said: "We as a staff team were immensely proud of each and every one of them and celebrated all they had achieved during their time here with us.

"We bade them farewell in the afternoon with clear instructions to come back and visit us with news of their progress."

The centre thanks Michelle Woolcott from JMT who kindly donated the Red Carpet.
