It’s the day most ‘Star Wars’ fans have been waiting for – Force Friday. Almost eclipsing May the 4th on the ‘Star Wars’ calendar, it’s going to see thousands of new ‘Star Wars’ toys hitting shelves across the globe.

But with everything from action figures, new LEGO sets and even character costumes for your little Jedi, we take a look at some of the best toys on offer. You won’t be disappointed.

Sphero’s Remote-Control BB-8

Finally, it’s the ‘Star Wars’ toy we’ve dreamt about – but it’s now a reality. A fully-functional BB-8 is now available in remote control form. And it works exactly how it does in the movie.

Created by Sphero, the rather awesome-looking remote controlled BB-8 is self-righting, with the ability to control the tiny droid directly from your iPhone. It’s honestly one of the biggest ‘Star Wars’ toys we’ve seen in terms of ambition… but at around £150 it’s one for serious toy addicts. Still, it’s pretty impressive and will likely keep you occupied for many hours as you traverse your living room via a tiny ‘Star Wars’ droid.

And did we mention it can make hologram-style video messages too?

Star Wars 7 LEGO Sets

LEGO has been one of the biggest tie-in ‘Star Wars’ brands over the last few years, and the upcoming ‘Star Wars 7’ sets showcase some of the coolest additions to the ‘Star Wars’ saga.

First up, we have Kylo Ren’s impressive Command Shuttle.

Seemingly based on a cross between a TIE Fighter and an Imperial Shuttle, it’s an imposing craft with some pretty cool, unique features. The foldable wings retract downwards and with an opening cockpit, there’s enough room for Kylo and his cadre of First Order troopers.

Then, there’s Poe Dameron’s rather odd-looking black X-Wing.

Although we haven’t seen this in any of the trailers just yet, Poe Dameron is rumoured to join the elusive Black Squadron… whatever that means. And this new LEGO set seems to give us a look at what his black X-Wing will look like. It’s a slightly odd aesthetic choice given that we still haven’t seen the ship in action… but it includes a number of minifigures as well as a cool hover-cart to stock up on ammo.

Next, it’s the return of an old favourite – the Millennium Falcon.

Kitted out with some new upgrades (including that rectangular radar dish), the most intriguing aspect of the Millennium Falcon kit is the clan of mini-figures that are along for the ride. Han Solo and Chewbacca are pretty much a given, along with Daisy Ridley’s Rey, John Boyega’s Finn and the new droid, BB-8. But who are those mysterious swarthy chaps joining them? Tasu Leech and Kanjiklub Gang Mamber, that’s who.

But what they’re up to is anybody’s guess.

Finally we have two new speeders – a First Order Snowspeeder and Rey’s Speeder.

These smaller sets will no doubt prove popular, especially with Rey’s already-iconic speeder design. And let’s face it - they’ll be a bit cheaper, too. But the detail is no less impressive. It’s certainly an intriguing range of sets, and with Poe Dameron’s X-Wing also on the way, it’s a great time for LEGO collectors.

Star Wars 7 Black Series Figures

A staple for ‘Star Wars’ collectors across the globe, the Black Series represents the gold standard when it comes to ‘Star Wars’ action figures.

image

These 6-inch scale figures feature some of the biggest names from ‘The Force Awakens’ – including Kylo Ren, Finn, Rey, Chewie and even some good old Stormtroopers. And this time, you can even get a collection of Black Series vehicles, featuring a First Order TIE Fighter, Resistance X-Wing and even the Millennium Falcon.

Star Wars 7 Elite Series Figures

A Disney Store exclusive, these die-cast character figures are somehow even cooler than the Black Series versions.

High-end and clearly packed full of detail, the new Elite Series is hugely impressive. Each one comes with its own display stand and a collection of appropriate accessories, the best of which seems to be Rey who comes packaged with the droid, BB-8.

Kylo Ren is the tallest of these figures, standing at an imposing 7.5 inches tall, with Captain Phasma coming a close second. The detail on these figures is reportedly incredible, with lots of small parts and impressive paint schemes throughout. A must have for any collector.

Star Wars 7 Lightsabers

Ever since the first ‘Star Wars 7’ trailer, we’ve been dying to get our hands on the all-new lightsaber. Although controversial amongst ‘Star Wars’ fans, the new crossguard lightsaber is bound to prove to be a huge hit in the playground. And thanks to Hasbro, you can now build your very own version… and make it even more ridiculous than the film version.

image

Introducing Bladebuilders – a new modular lightsaber which allows you to combine various components into your very own custom blade. And that includes Kylo Ren’s divisive hilt.

But if custom sabers aren’t your thing, there’s also a standard, non-modular version that you can throw about your living room while reliving that split second appearance from the official first trailer. And this one does away with the classic lightsaber hum. Let’s just say, it’s a bit more rugged-sounding.

Assorted Star Wars 7 Costumes

Definitely one for the kids, these awesome ‘Star Wars 7’ costumes will let your little troopers dress up as their favourite characters from ‘The Force Awakens’… several months before the film even debuts.

image

The full line includes Kylo Ren and Captain Phasma costumes as well as a First Order Stormtrooper and even Daisy Ridley’s Rey – complete with goggles and accessories. It’s certainly great to see more ‘Star Wars’ dress-up options for girls… after all, there are some great female characters in the upcoming movie.
