Timelapse Captures Band of Green Light Dancing in Nebraska Skies

A timelapse video from Omaha, Nebraska, captured what the photographer excitedly called “the northern lights” on December 9, though some local residents expressed skepticism, and suspected the unusual light effect was not the Aurora Borealis.

The Space Weather Prediction Center had said a minor geomagnetic storm watch was in effect for December 9 to 10, which they said was a result of energy being ejected from the sun on Monday, December 7.

The result was that it would be possible to see the aurora across the Midwest overnight from December 9 to 10, they said.
