Toni & Guy salon to close for good after 20 years in Liverpool

Liverpool salon Toni & Guy is closing after 20 years in business on Allerton Road.

Today, Wednesday, May 8 is the last day the hairdressers will be operating in South Liverpool, after first opening its doors in 2004. People in Liverpool wanting to get beauty treatments at Toni & Guy will now need to travel to the nearest salon in St Helens, on Church Street.

There was previously a Toni & Guy in Liverpool city centre, on Whitechapel, which refranchised in 2018 before it closed in 2023. The multi-award winning salon franchise celebrated 60 years in business last year.

Founded by brothers, Toni (Giuseppe) and Guy (Gaetono) Mascolo, their first salon in Clapham, south London in 1963 and went on to operate the largest independent salon group worldwide.

Despite salons closing in Liverpool, the brand still claims to have than 650 salons spanning across in 38 countries. Services include hairdressing consultations, cuts, barbering, colour and styling.

A statement on the Toni & Guy website, reads: "Over the last sixty years TONI&GUY has become one of the most powerful hairdressing brands in the world, and its aim for the future is to continue and grow its reputation as the ultimate link between fashion and hair – pioneering, passionate and inspirational."
