Tonight's Cardiff City news as midfielder sends Bulut reminder and star makes shock switch

Adams sends timely reminder

Ebou Adams has sent Erol Bulut and Cardiff City a timely reminder of just what he is capable of after scoring for Gambia in their 3-2 defeat by Gabon last night.

Adams spent the second half of last season out on loan with Derby County and won the club's goal of the season award for a stunning strike against Blackpool. Unsurprisingly, Rams boss Paul Warne is understood to want him back next season.

That is a decision which will fall into the hands of Cardiff and Bulut, though, with the Bluebirds boss saying he would assess the situation during pre-season.

Adams showed his quality once again during the World Cup qualifier clash when he pulled the score back to within one with a sweetly-struck left-footed goal in the 79th minute.

Elsewhere, Andy Rinomhota's Zimbabwe lost 3-1 to South Africa in their World Cup qualifier. Rinomhota lasted 90 minute before being placed by Udinese's Jordan Zemura.

Callum O'Dowda came on in the 53rd minute for the Republic of Ireland in their 3-0 defeat by Portugal, courtesy of a Cristiano Ronaldo double. Manolis Siopis was an unused substitute for Greece in their 2-0 win over Malta.

Vaulks makes surprise switch

Sheffield Wednesday's player of the season, Will Vaulks, has rejected a contract offer at Hillsborough to link up with four ex-Cardiff City players at Oxford United.

There will be a familiar feeling when the newly-promoted U's come to town next season, with Vaulks likely to be lining up alongside his former Bluebirds team-mates Josh Murphy, Joe Bennett, Mark Harris and Ciaron Brown. Sign up to our Cardiff City newsletter here.

The decision, however, has come as a shock to some, with many Owls fans believing the 30-year-old Wales international to be an important cog in the wheel. There are suggestions that Oxford's willingness to back Vaulks with a three-year deal, as opposed to the reported one-year offer Wednesday tabled, was a key factor in the deal.

"The four boys here from Cardiff — Benno, Ciaron Brown, Josh Murphy and Sparky — I played with all of them at Cardiff.," Vaulks said of linking up with his old Cardiff team-mates at Oxford.

"Ciaron was just coming through, Benno was obviously very experienced, played a lot of games at a high level, Mark Harris was breaking through into the first team and he has obviously done brilliantly in the last season and then Murph, I've spent a lot of time with Murph and he's coming back to the player he was.

"I'm really looking forward to meeting back up with them. They all spoke really highly of the club, so it should be good to see some familiar faces."

Galatasaray linked with Nayir

Turkish giants Galatasaray have been linked with a move for Erol Bulut's January transfer target Umut Nayir.

The striker, who plays for Fenerbahce, was on Cardiff's radar in the winter window, however he ended up sealing a loan move to Penkidspor, for whom he scored five goals in 18 games.

And now, according to multiple reports in Turkey, Nayir is on Galatasaray's list of targets this summer. Galatasaray are looking to bolster their striker options after winning the Super Lig last season.

Cardiff themselves are on the lookout for one but possibly two strikers themselves this summer. Whether Nayir is on the radar again remains to be seen, however Galatasaray appear to be quick off the mark with this one.
