According to reporter Alan Nixon on his Patreon page, Swansea are exploring their options following Carl Rushworth's return to parent club Brighton and Hove Albion.

It's understood the Swans haven't yet given up hope of bringing Rushworth back to the club for another loan stint next term, although boss Luke Williams has already played down their chances.

Nicholls, who worked with Williams during their time at MK Dons together, has now been touted as a potential replacement, and is now likely to be available folloing the Terriers' relegation from the Championship last season.

Huddersfield would like look for a decent sum should they decide to cash in, and it remains to be seen whether the Swans would match their valuation.

“It’s a case of if we find the goalkeeper that we really believe in, then we will try to attract that goalkeeper to come here,” Swansea head coach Williams told BBC Sport Wales.

“There’s a scenario where we don’t manage to do that and Carl Rushworth is then available. I have been in football long enough to know that things happen that you couldn’t always predict.

“But we are actively looking for goalkeepers, as well as every other position.”

Driouech drops potential hint

Couhaib Driouech has sent fans into a spin - after being snapped on holiday with PSV Eindhoven star Ismael Saibari.

The winger looks almost certain to move on this summer following Excelsior's relegation from the Eredivisie, with a number of clubs taking an interest, including Swansea City, who launched an unsuccessful bid for his services back in January.

Leeds United are also thought to be admirers, as too are PSV, who similarly made an approach in the last transfer window. The player himself is believed to prefer a move to the latter, and appears to already be getting on well with one of his potential new team-mates.

Saibari, who like Driouech is a Morroccan international, has been snapped alongside the 22-year-old, with the pair seemingly enjoying some down time on holiday together.

Commenting on the picture, Dutch journalist Rik Elfrink wrote: "I don't know if it's a hint. Excelsior will still have to cooperate for a while.

"But PSV ace and advocate Ismael Saibari and potential PSV acquisition Couhaib Driouech seem to get along fine. However, the introductory course has not yet started."

Allen itching to get going

Joe Allen says he's thrilled to extend his stay at Swansea City, and insist he can't wait to get down to work ahead of the new seaosn.

The midfielder recently put pen to paper on a new one-year deal earlier in the summer, having enjoyed a solid run of form towards the end of the previous campaign.

The former Wales international admits there were times where he felt it was unlikely he would stay in SA1, but there's clearly now plenty of excitement ahead of the new campaign.

“I was really thrilled to sign the contract, and I am excited about that,” he said.

“To be honest, earlier in the season before I had the spell back in the team it had looked unlikely.

“But I always kept the hope that I would be able to show what I could do and extend the deal.

“Thankfully, the gaffer gave me a chance in the team and the club gave me the chance to extend my time here.

“From my side, the gaffer was a huge part of that. From when he came in on his first day, it was clear to me that I was really going to like working with him, and the way he wanted the team to play.

“His ideas and methods suited me, and the whole group here, and we saw clear signs of that as the season was drawing to a close. We were making progress and it was great to be a part of that.

“I was just itching to keep that going into the start of next season and everyone is eager to get back in for pre-season.”
