A holidaymaker brought delight to social media users after sharing their "perfectly Swedish" hotel room view online.

The tourist posted an image on Twitter/X showing a rainbow arching gracefully over an IKEA store under clear blue skies and devoid of streets bustling with people. User @sirakobama captioned the post: "Just landed in Sweden and this the view from my hotel room, everything I could've imagined."

The picture quickly became a hit online, amassing around 188,000 likes and prompting numerous humorous edits incorporating the likes of ABBA.

Social media users also singled out the rainbow as a particularly delightful touch. One tweeted: "The rainbow is the cherry on top. You went to paradise my man."

Another wrote: "Kungens kurva, nice. I think that IKEA used to be the biggest one in the world."

Some Twitter users found the appearance of a rainbow above an IKEA store amusing, with one comment reading, "I don't know why but the rainbow is so f**king funny to me, oh my beautiful magical IKEA."

However, not everyone was pleased to see an IKEA store amid such scenic surroundings. One user remarked scornfully: "Clouds, rainbow, capitalism. Sweet balance between man and nature."

Discount furniture store IKEA was founded in 1943 in Sweden, but is now headquartered in Leiden, Netherlands. As of 2023 there were 462 locations worldwide.

The brand is known for selling flat-pack furniture customers have to build themselves at home, keeping costs low in the process. There is currently one branch in Nottingham, which can be found at Giltbrook Shopping Park northwest of the city centre.
