Tropical Storm Gamma Downs Trees in Cancun, Mexico

Tropical Storm Gamma made landfall near Tulum, Mexico, on October 3 ,bringing strong winds, rain and lashing waves to Mexico’s gulf coast and the Yucatan Peninsula.

The National Hurricane Center said the storm was nearly at hurricane strength when made landfall, with sustained winds near 70 mph. Meteorologists said the storm could bring flooding to Mexico and Central America.

Officials in Cancun issued a yellow alert on Sunday, indicating the storm presented “moderate” danger.
