An Uber driver drove a sleeping passenger 60 miles from her destination in an effort to boost his fare – and has now pleaded guilty to kidnapping.

The unnamed female passenger woke to find the driver Harbir Parmar ‘with his hand under her shirt’ – and he then grabbed her phone.

She fled the cab, to find she was in Connecticut rather than new York, and that the destination had been changed, leaving her with an $1,047 fare.

Parmar confessed to a series of similar offences which had earned him $3,600 in charges.

A spokesman for Uber said, ‘”What’s been reported is horrible and something no person should go through.

‘As soon as we became aware, we immediately removed this individual’s access to the platform.’

Parmar will be sentenced in June and could face life imprisonment, the BBC reports.
