Video Premiere: Kaioyote Wants More ‘Sugar’

Bigfork, Montana soul singer Kaioyote has emerged like she has vengeance. Even though there’s a raspy edge to her voice, it doesn’t inhibit her from hitting her falsetto high notes or carrying a melody. Her lyrics are more matter of fact than trite, and her look is constantly evolving.

We are excited to be early supporters and to provide the first look at her new video for song “Sugar.”

Kaioyote premieres the video for her song “Sugar.”

Though the song calls out a drifting lover, accusing him of cheating and withdrawing affection (”I want to know where the sugar go in your love you know”), her biography suggests that her motivation is about “shedding what no longer serves the soul.” In the video directed by Brooklyn’s Nimble Fox Productions, she’s carefree. With an apartment setting, Kaioyote rolls out of bed, joins the band for the song, and commences to trash the apartment before leaving the scene.

Check out her Soundcloud page for more of her work. Comparisons to Adele are inevitable because she’s a blonde soul singer with a throwback sound. But her ballsy attitude and approach will help her carve out her own space in music.
