Dead civilians as Assad air strike hits bakery

A government air strike on a bakery in Syria’s central Hama province has left dozens dead with many injured.

The carnage took place in the town of Halfaya.

Rebels seized the town last week as the conflict in the country shows no sign of ending.

Shortages of fuel and food mean civilians queue for hours for bread.

Assad’s forces also launched attacks on the town of Al Safira close to Aleppo.

As the bloodshed continues UN and Arab League peace envoy Lakhdar Brahimi arrived in Damascus for his third visit since taking the job.

Brahimi entered overland from Beirut because of fighting close to Damascus airport.

He is expected to meet with President Basher al-Assad on Monday.
