Lake Maggiore Overflows Flooding Shores

Torrential rain in Italy has claimed two more lives with storms across Piedmont and Lombardy triggering flooding and landslides on November 12. Lakeside towns around Lake Maggiore faced flooding with water levels in Italy’s second largest lake continuing to rise overnight. The body of a 70-year-old man was recovered after he fell in the lake. Another 60-year-old man was struck and killed by a landslide in the northern Italian town of Biella.

Trains between Liguria, Piedmont and Triveneto were suspended, causing obstructions at Milan’s Garibaldi train station. This video shows streets in Laveno-Mombello submerged under water on November 12. Credit: Youtube/walter loddo
