Watch the incredible moment a firefighter catches a child thrown from a burning building

This is the dramatic moment a child is thrown from a burning building into the arms of a firefighter on the ground below.

The amazing rescue happened at a fire at an apartment building in Decatur, Georgia, in the US on January 3 but video footage of the incident has only just been released.

In the clip, a woman throws the child from the top of a ladder as the flames get near.

The child is caught on the ground by the firefighter, who stumbles out of harm’s way.

At least 12 people, including a number of children, were injured as a result of the blaze, but not of them seriously.

The child was caught by third-generation firefighter Captain Scott Stroup, who collapsed on to his knees as he carried the child to safety.

But he wasn’t the only firefighter to catch children thrown from the blaze.

Captain Eric Jackson told CBS News: ‘We were catching babies like a football – literally.

‘There were adults that were on the balcony that were dropping their babies right into our arms.

‘We had a couple firefighters catching babies, so it was just really incredible.’
