WhatsApp Windows Phone 8 app now available

WhatsApp has released a version of its popular messaging app for Windows Phone 8. The app, which is already available for Windows Phone 7.5 users, was missing from the WP8 launch roster to date.

According to Nokia, WhatsApp, has worked with the phone company to "produce a version that is properly optimised for the latest Windows Phone platform experience.

It will however work with other Windows Phone 8 devices like the HTC 8X.

Once the app is installed, it will automatically find the other WhatsApp users in your phonebook and add them its built-in phone book. WhatsApp is free for the first 12 months, then costs $0.99 for the years thereafter.

In related news, Facebook has updated its Windows Phone 8 app. According to Microsoft version 4.1.0 fixes some bugs and improves stability and performance.
