Wildfires Continue to Burn Throughout Alaska

Crews are still battling wildfires burning throughout parts of Alaska, footage from Tuesday, July 2, shows.

Video filmed and posted to X by Chuck Taylor shows the Riley fire burning by Denali National Park and Preserve near Healy, Alaska, on Tuesday. A helicopter can be seen flying over the smoke-filled trees in the region.

According to Alaska Wildland Fire Information, the Riley fire burned 385 acres and was 5 percent contained as of Monday night.

Denali National Park and Preserve remained closed on Monday and Tuesday because of the fire, a local news outlet said.

Throughout the state, 315 wildfires with a combined area of over 460,000 acres were burning, including the 160,800-acre McDonald fire, according to the Alaska Interagency Coordination Center. Credit: Chuck Taylor via Storyful
