Woman seriously hurt in hit and run crash in Cornwall

A woman has been seriously injured after a hit-and-run incident in Cornwall. The pedestrian, whose age has not been confirmed, was hit by a car in Davidstow.

It happened on Saturday, June 29, at 8.15am. Emergency services rushed to the scene at Hendrawalls Lane in Davidstow, near Camelford.

Reports came in that a female pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle and the vehicle failed to stop at the scene of the collision. She was taken to Derriford Hospital with serious injuries.

A witness reported a significant number of emergency service vehicles in the area and that the road was closed off to the public by police officers. The car and driver have not been located.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "On Saturday 29th June 2024 at approximately 8.15am, Ambulance and Police were called to Hendrawalls Lane, Davidstow near Camelford, following reports that a female pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.

"This vehicle failed to stop at the scene of the collision. The pedestrian was taken to Derriford Hospital with serious injuries. The vehicle involved has not been located."

Police are appealing for witnesses who they have not yet spoken too, to phone on 101 or make contact via the Devon and Cornwall Police website, quoting log reference 201 29th June 2024.
