Wrong-Way Driver Rams Wisconsin Police Cruiser

Dramatic dashcam footage shows the moment a wrong-way driver crashed into a police vehicle as deputies investigated a separate incident on US Route 151 in Wisconsin on November 12.

According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were investigating a motorcycle crash on northbound USH “north of 4th St” early Sunday morning when they received calls regarding a wrong-way driver on the same highway. Deputies jumped into their vehicles and tried to locate the driver.

“Knowing unsuspecting civilian traffic was approaching behind him,” Sgt Paul Metzger attempted to block the driver’s lane to prevent a head-on crash. Footage shows the vehicle crashing into the front of Metzger’s squad car.

The sheriff’s office said the driver was arrested for suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, along with charges including reckless driving and failure to yield for an emergency vehicle.

“We are thankful no one was injured in this wrong way driving incident, and commend Sgt. Metzger for risking his own personal safety to get the wrong way driver stopped before he injured or killed an innocent motorist,” the sheriff’s office wrote on Facebook.
