THE air ambulance was called to a biker who suffered potentially serious injuries in an accident in Herefordshire.

The male motorcyclist was taken from the scene of the accident on a main road in Pontrilas to Hereford County Hospital to be treated. He had fallen off his bike.

The air ambulance landed at the scene after being called to the incident on the A465 at around 3.45pm yesterday (May 7) but the patient was taken to hospital in a land ambulance.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: "We were called to reports of a motorcyclist who had fallen from his bike in Pontrilas, near to Llangua Bridge, at 3.41pm yesterday. One ambulance and the air ambulance from Strensham attended. On arrival we discovered a man who was treated before being taken to Hereford County Hospital by land ambulance."

The spokesperson added that the injuries are believed to be potentially serious.
