Animal rescue centre supported with knitted nests

An animal rescue centre in Cricklade has received a boost after its supporters knitted 'nests' for its birds.

RSPCA Oak and Furrows said on social media that a pair of swifts looked "very comfortable in their Gucci nest", adding "they'll certainly never go out of style".

Besides crafting nests, people have been assisting by donating various items, volunteering time, and making financial contributions to help to cover costs such as rent, utilities, staffing and medication.

The centre urged people to support its ongoing fundraising campaign, 1K Strong For Animal Welfare, which is looking to raise £10,000.

It said: "Just £2 a month would make a difference to local wildlife in need of rescue and ensure our presence in the North Wiltshire region for years to come".

The centre said it "greatly appreciates" all donations and that "without your support we simply would not be here, and as our costs rise we need your help now more than ever".

RSPCA Oak and Furrows is an independent branch of the national RSCPA and is RSPCA North Wilts and Newbury District's rescue centre.

It rescues and rehabilitates wildlife from the North Wiltshire, Newbury and South Gloucestershire, covering a 30 mile radius.
