Musicians, DJs, young talents, live graffiti and more will entertain crowds at an event on Cowley Road this Sunday.

On July 7, from midday to 11pm, In-Spire Sounds and Inner Peace Records will join MES Crew in hosting the People's Carnival at the James Street Tavern.

Festivities include performances by more than 20 young talents, DJs, live graffiti by MES Crew, an art showcase by Paper Jam at 7pm, and food from TJ Naturals Jerk Hut.

In the absence of an official carnival this July, with Cowley Road Carnival set for September 1, the community has united to create a day filled with music, art, and cultural festivities.

Director of In-Spire Sounds, Kingsley Pratt-Boyden said: "It's amazing to see everyone coming together to keep the carnival spirit alive.

"We're hoping to collaborate with Oxford City Council and Cowley Road Works to bring an even bigger and better event next year."

The event will aim to highlight lifelong connections and commitment to the Cowley Road and Oxford community.

Resident Neda May Monadjem said: "The lack of central planning this year has actually brought us closer together.

"Simply saying Oxford is a diverse city isn’t enough; it’s our collective responsibility to demonstrate this through our actions.”

Oxford resident Amelia Thornber added: "It's heart warming to see these spontaneous events popping up all over Cowley Road. We truly believe that community spirit is at the heart of the carnival."
