Boy, 9, fighting for life after being hit by Toyota Yaris in Doncaster

A nine-year-old boy has been left fighting for his life after being hit by a car in Doncaster.

South Yorkshire Police were called to the junction of Melton Road and Thorpe Lane, in Sprotbrough at 8.42am on Tuesday (July 2) following reports of a collision involving a red Toyota Yaris and a nine-year-old boy.

Emergency services attended and the boy was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Toyota remained on the scene and assisted officers with their enquiries. The road was taped off by police for a period of time while officers conducted their work but has since reopened.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward. A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “We are now asking for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who was in the area and has dashcam footage that could assist officers in their investigation to come forward.
