Canadian couple defy the odds to win the lottery for the THIRD time

A Canadian couple are celebrating becoming millionaires after winning the lottery for a record third time.

Douglas and Barbara Fink have already won the lottery twice before, but they have now won a staggering £4.9m, according to the Western Canada Lottery Corporation.

The cash prize is the biggest win for the couple, who won £60,000 in 2010, while Mr Fink shared a £76,000 with four friends in 1989.

Now officially millionaires, the couple, from Edmonton, Alberta, are choosing to provide for their children before splashing the cash.

Mrs Fink said: “Family comes first. We want to make sure that our daughters and our grandkids are looked after.”

After that, the pair will buy one or two things for themselves.

Mr Fink added: “Barbara wants a new house, so she’ll get one.”

The couple were one of two ticket holders to guess all six numbers correctly to win the jackpot.

Mrs Fink recalled how she couldn’t get hold of her husband to tell him the good news.

She joked: “He didn’t answer, so I waited five minutes and tried again.

“That time, he picked up. I said, ‘I did it again!'”
