Cannabis grower deported and another to follow at a later date, court hears

A confiscation hearing for two cousins who were given jail sentences totalling more than seven years for their involvement in two cannabis factories in Lowestoft has been withdrawn due to deportation.

Ipswich Crown Court heard that 31-year-old Kol Ndreca had already been deported and his co-defendant Adolf Ndreca, 29, was due to be deported.

Recorder Sarah Przybylska said that as a result of this the Crown Prosecution Service no longer planned to pursue a confiscation hearing under the Proceeds of Crime Act against the the two men.

She said instead there was an application to seize £140 cash found on Adolf Ndreca and £342 found on Kol Ndreca when they were arrested, which she granted under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

In July last year, Ipswich Crown Court heard that police officers who raided the Drill Hall in Arnold Street in Lowestoft in April found 237 cannabis plants and a further 107 plants in a four-bedroom house in Jasmine Green, Lowestoft.

Adolf Ndreca, of St Peters Street, Lowestoft, as found to be in a "leading role" in the operation and was jailed for 56 months.

Kol Ndreca, of Jasmine Green, Lowestoft, was jailed for 36 months.

They had both admitted being concerned in the production of cannabis between May 2022 and April 2023.

The court heard that Adolf Ndreca owned a car cleaning business in Kessingland, near the east Suffolk town, and had purchased hydroponic equipment costing £9,500 for the cannabis factories.

He had also set up tenancy agreements for the properties and had paid council tax.

The court heard that Kol Ndreca was an illegal immigrant but Adolf Ndreca was in the country legally.

A man who was involved in the cannabis production in Arnold Street was jailed for 35 weeks at an earlier hearing.
