Yahoo News Coronation Street's Bernie Winter's secret uncovered after ex's threats with big news for Gemma and Paul
Bernie Winter's secret will be revealed in Coronation Street after her ex threatened to expose the truth. As viewers of the ITV soap know, Denny recently came back into her and their children Gemma Winter-Brown and Paul Foreman's lives.
The new character was first seen at the end of last month when he was seen listening to Paul Foreman's interview with Amy Barlow on the radio. Later, when Paul, his husband Billy Mayhew and sister Gemma were busy being blown away by the Motor Neurone Disease crowd funder as a result of his radio appearance, Denny was seen approaching Bernie outside the café.
She couldn't hide her surprise at seeing him before he told her he heard Paul on the radio and didn’t realise his son was dying. Bernie tried to make out Paul was already dead and the interview was a recording. But disbelieving her, Denny waited and followed her up to the flat where Gemma and Paul were shocked to see their dad who remarked that Paul looked great for someone that’s supposedly dead.

Both Bernie and Gemma made it clear that he wasn't welcome but Denny begged Paul to hear him out. Later, over a drink at the Rovers, Denny admitted to being an awful dad but promised Paul that he is a changed person. However, it wasn't long until Denny kept buying the drinks as he got Paul drunk and once back at the flat, he threw up, leaving Billy and Bernie furious.
Billy asked him to leave and soon after, Bernie headed outside ordered Denny to stay away as he said he'd be back the following day. But the latter laughed as he reminded Bernie that while he wasn't a a good dad, she was worse and reminded her of her guilty secret
Disbelieving why he really wanted to see his son, Bernie said: "Nah, I'm not buying it you see the thing is I know you..." but Denny snapped and said up in her face: "I know you! A lot better than Paul and Gemma do, obviously, now they might think I'm a terrible parent but I ain't got nothing on you... or actually, I have got something on you and we wouldn't want that to get out, would we? Shush!".
Next week, Gemma realises Bernie’s been lying about her whereabouts and asks Dev Alahan to do some digging. Later, Dev confronts Bernie, who crumbles, admitting she had another son, Zodiac - known as Zac for short - who was taken into care. He was later adopted, changed his name to Christopher Green and she’s now determined to find him.
Having set about her search, Bernie tells Dev that there’s one more Christopher Green on her list and she’s going to pay him a visit. But when she discovers he died of cancer, Bernie knocks back the drink, fearing she’s missed the chance to find her son.
