Glasgow drink fans on the hunt for a wee change of scenery and a brewery taproom packed with great beers could find what they are looking for in a hidden gem just north of the city.

Just named as a finalist at the Scottish Beer Awards for Best Brewery, the Loch Lomond Brewery taproom is easily accessible by train (or car if you have a generous designated driver), and is situated just seven minutes from the train station at Renton, which lies close to Balloch and the stunning surrounds of Loch Lomond.

One of five incredible breweries from around the country up for the top award, Loch Lomond will now go to head with the other finalists to be named Scottish Brewery of the Year at the ceremony in Glasgow in September.

This gorgeous taproom and bottle shop at the award-winning brewery is open from Tuesday to Thursday 12-4pm and Friday and Saturday 2-10pm, and offers friendly service and plenty of options with their latest releases, limited edition runs and trusty stalwarts at great prices.

There are eight taps on offer in total, including regulars such as the ever-popular and award-winning Silkie Stout and Southern Summit, as well as other exciting beers such as Crack in the Clouds, a 10% Bramble Sour.

There's also the chance to grab some mementoes to take home with you, as their bottle is on site offering canned beers and merch to buy.

The team shared an easy-to-follow video guide on how to get to the brewery and bar on their Facebook page.

As well as beer, fans of gin and whisky will be delighted to know they also offer a great range of spirits too, as well as the products from their own new distilling house, Dalrigh Distillery, with a gin named after the distillery already on sale and on offer behind the bar.

Keen to expand their offering, owners and husband and wife team Fiona and Euan Maceachern and manager Jimmi Scott are also now putting on whisky and gin tasting nights, quizzes, music and food nights, which fans can find out more about on their Facebook page.

Speaking about the taproom, which opened in October 2022, manager Jimmi said: "The taproom has been a hugely popular addition so far and we are hoping to welcome even more beer fans, local residents and visitors to the area to our wee site, where they will find a range of incredible beers all brewed on site."
