A brand new dog-friendly airline that allows your pets access to roam the plane is coming to the UK. The news will be met with joy by owners who find it stressful travelling with their pooches and have to keep them caged up.

Bark Air offers currently one-way and round-trip flights between New York and Los Angeles, with flights from London scheduled from the end of the month. But even more routes will be added soon.

The airline promises to deliver a 'white paw experience', with all flights focussed on dogs first and humans second. Bark Air cabins are prepped with calming aids such as pheromone, music, warm lavender-scented refreshment towels and other comforts to help each dog feel settled.

Bark Air concierges also have a 'just in case' bag filled with calming treats, leashes, poop bags and more that are provided at the gate. During ascent and descent, dogs will be served their beverage of choice (water, bone broth, you name it) to ensure they do not experience any ear discomfort commonly caused by the change in cabin pressure.

Plus, a variety of Bark-branded treats, snacks and surprises are served throughout the flight experience. As good as it all sounds, there is a fairly big catch as a one-way ticket will cost you $8,000 (£6,400) - but, this does include luggage and airport transfer.

Upon booking, humans will be contacted by a Bark Air concierge to collect information about their dog and their travel plans. Bark Air says this is "in order to give you the best overall travel experience possible".

On the travel day, dogs and their owners are asked to arrive at the airport one hour before the flight for a "simple, efficient check-in process and security screening". A Bark Air concierge will "welcome all pups and help them settle into their experience through socialization at the gate and dog-centric cabin preparation".

At the moment, Bark Air's launch routes serve the New York City metro area via White Plains (HPN), Los Angeles via Van Nuys (VNY), and London via Biggin Hill (BQN). The airline adds: "All of these airports are easily accessible to the metro areas around them and are comparatively easy to get to/from vs. the major airports in those metros."
