A YouTube star took on a Liverpool restaurant's eating challenge and managed to smash the record.

Foodie Adam Moran, known worldwide as Beard Meats Food on the competitive eating circuit, visited the city to take on Gordon Ramsay's bottomless pizza deal. In the Liverpool ONE restaurant Gordon Ramsay Street Pizza, found on level two of the celebrity chef's Bread Street Kitchen restaurant, 14 inch pizzas can be served bottomless for £20.

Customers can also add 90 minutes of bottomless prosecco for an extra £24 per person. Feeling confident, Adam took on the challenge of seeing how many pizza slices he could eat in two hours.

Before heading to the restaurant, he believed the record number of slices eaten in one sitting was 18 slices. However, once inside, he found out that the current record was actually 38 slices and held by a man called Rafail.

Coming in second on the leader board was Nicholas Ross with 35 slices. Sitting down to tuck into his challenge, Adam told the camera: "buckle up folks , it's going to be a bumpy ride."

There aren't any rules as such, but there are five different pizzas to choose from, customers get two hours and they must finish a pizza before ordering another pizza. In the first half an hour, Adam had already gone through 16 slices and moved from margarita to pepperoni and chicken - so he wouldn't get "flavour fatigue".

In between pizzas Adam even started to drink a milkshake, as he breezed past the previous record of 38 pizza slices. As he got to the end of his last pizza, a shocked staff member appeared and said: "I mean, fair play well done man, like I definitely couldn't put that away and haven't seen anyone else do that so, round of applause."

Speaking after eating 48 slices, he said: "That was hard work, but we got it done, new record, come down and see if you can beat it...or actually don't." Watch the full food challenge on Beard Meats Food here.
